Council for Political Studies (CPS) is a non-profit academic organisation of political scientists, formed on 14 February 1972 in Calcutta of college and university teachers of Political Science, aiming at restructuring the study and teaching of Political Science in a radical, socialist direction. Registered under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act, 1961.
Since its formation CPS has organized numerous seminars, conferences, symposia and lectures in collaboration with Calcutta University, Jadavpur University, Rabindra Bharati University, Presidency University, and leading colleges of West Bengal. CPS has been publishing Socialist Perspective (ISSN 0970-8863) since 1973 — now in its 44th volume.
